The Great Vigil of Easter, the most solemn celebration of the church year, will begin at 8:00 PM with the Blessing of the New Fire, the Lighting of the Paschal Candle, and the Lucernarium. It will include the Liturgy of the Word recalling God's saving deeds from the beginning of creation followed by the initiation of new members by Baptism and Confirmation. It will conclude with the first Mass of Easter. A reception will follow on the lanai. (There is no 5:15 PM Mass this evening.)
